Not a Cheap Update - 2025 NIO ES6 Review – YouTube Dictation Transcript & Vocabulary

1.hello and welcome to the telescope Every week we bring you a fresh insight from the biggest car market in the world This is the refreshed Neo ES6 I've previewed this car and the upcoming Neo ET5 in my 2025 outlook I thought this is just a refresh It will have the horizontal screen and the new NX931 chip If you don't know what that is I went in depth as in-depth as I could in the ET9 review without triggering Neil to become a target in the ongoing US China trade war In a nutshell the NX931 is the most powerful ADAS chip in the world as we speak on May the 10th It's more powerful than every single Nvidia ADAS chip currently available on the market today including the U iteration of the Thor platform Only the upcoming yet to be released yet to be commercialized Thor X is on a similar level with the NX931 Anyway get back to the car Neil was shooting the TV commercial of this car in the compound where my office is So I got an early peak than most people From a distance this refresh looks like Neil has done it on the cheap By that I mean I think I thought they only changed the plastic bits i.e the front bumper or maybe the lights All of the metal parts should remain the same That's a sensible approach for a company that's trying to control cost and achieve profitability in Q4 this year which is what another 5 months away But here in the metal I'm very surprised So here are all the things that have changed on this car Obviously the front bumper This opening is now taller to give this car more of a standing up muscular look Daytime running light new This is more similar to the Neo ET9 The main headlight also new And this bonnet is also new I hope under this strong sunlight you can tell that this crease is now a lot sharper than the previous generation This is metal This is also not cheap This is also not cheap Come around to the side because they've changed the uh front bonnet This fender which is also metal also got changed Come around to the side This rear bumper also got changed And all of the lower body plastic parts have changed to glossy black also consistent with the Ino E9 make this car look more premium That's a lot of new parts There's a lot of midcycle facelift that have changed a lot less body panel than this mild refresh or should I really call it a facelift Here on the inside the most visible change is this horizontal screen This is the same screen from the ET9 It's it's amazing It's tandem OLED It's as good as screen gets in 2025 You cannot fully appreciate this screen in daylight but at night the brightness the color just the the sheer amount of punch this screen carries is is quite amazing They've also changed the instrument display It's now a bit taller than the previous ES6 But much more important than that they now allow you to put the map in the center of the display previous generation all previous Neos even when you are driving manually it's displaying some kind of simulated reality from all its ADA sensors I mean I could just look out of the front windscreen why do I need to look at an instrument display to tell me what's in front of me it's just such an unnecessary addition for those ADAS maniac who wants to look at that simulated reality for whatever reason you can still do that but now at least I have been given the choice Other changes gear selector The previous generation Neo all have a gear selector here They've now changed to the Tesla style style gear selector Personally I prefer the previous generation gear selector but I understand by going this way they free up more space here on the center console Now you have can have two wireless charging pads all 50 W plus active cooling Other things a new heads-up display This is consistent with the instrument display that they all got taller in terms of aspect ratio So you got more vertical space to display the info The map magnification is just that much easier to see The seats also got softer when you're initially sitting in You can instantly tell at least the surface materials all the materials that's just beneath the surface got softer So it you have the perception of the seats has gotten softer but you still have excellent support over long distance This is not one of those seats that's very comfortable very soft for 5 minutes but quite tiring if you drive for more than an hour This car is still on the same motor battery combination as the previous generation ES6 That is this car is still on a 400vt platform That would be a big problem for other brands but a lot less so for Neo because Neo has the battery swap system I should say that this generation of ES6 and the upcoming ET5 refreshed ET5 is going to be the last two models on this generation of um motor battery combinations So you could argue that this car is not very future proof There's not that much more models to come on this generation of platform While there are merits in that argument but I will say you have instant access to a pool of nearly 700,000 battery packs I will say in the next three maybe three and a half years this will still have more battery packs available than the next generation 900 volt um battery packs because the nature of the battery swap system is that with more cars with more battery packs you get more stations more comprehensive coverage more robust fast storage in every single battery swap station you are that much less likely to run out of fully charged battery packs in the battery swap station And also in the next 2 or 3 years this ES6 and ET5 will remain as Neo's major selling specs So I don't think you need to worry that you're going to run out of new battery packs anytime soon From the pictures you may think this is just a lazy refresh a new chip a new screen several small tweaks maybe a new front bumper But here in the metal uh maybe this doesn't even translate well in the pictures because a lot of the changes are really um visible when you're here in the metal looking at this crease So they've made a lot of changes spent a lot of money and I do hope the market could recognize that because if it's just me if I know this company is trying to control cost and achieve profitability I wouldn't spend this much effort on a midlife refresh but they have The prefacelift ES6 is the most well-rounded model in the Neo lineup It doesn't have anything significantly wrong with it This new model this new refresh is a lot newer than you might expect If you want that horizontal screen I highly recommend that But in this refresh cycle it's the ET5 and the ET5 Touring that's getting the bigger much bigger jump We'll review that car in the coming weeks This ES6 is better but I recommend you if you could still find discounted prefacelift ES6 Considering the price difference this is better Don't get me wrong but I still recommend you if you could still find a prefaceelifted ES6 It's a better deal than this one It is better It's a lot better looking but the previous ES6 is still
