1.what do we mean by the terms master bedroom guest bedroom and Hall when we're talking about an apartment or a house hi I'm Jeff McQuillan from ESL pio decom in English as in all languages we have different terms different words to different rooms in a house or an apartment two of these terms I want to talk to you about today relate to bedrooms the place where you sleep in most houses and in many apartments but not all you have something called a master bedroom this is the biggest bedroom often it is a bedroom that has its own bathroom or it has a large closet a place where you hang up your clothes store your clothes that would be the master bedroom so in a typical house or apartment with a family a mother and a father living for example usually the mother and father would live or would have their room in the master bedroom the biggest bedroom the other bedrooms are called guest bedrooms a guest is someone who is visiting you so you may have say two parents and their son and a daughter the house will have let's say four bedrooms well the biggest bedroom is the master bedroom that would be for the parents the daughter will perhaps get her own room the son will get his own room the fourth room might be called the guest room no one sleeps in there normally but it's a place where if someone is visiting you you will have them sleep your guests final term when talking about apartments or houses is the word hall hall refers to the passage way different rooms often in an apartment you'll have a big living room a place with your television or a place where you spend most of your time or talking and then in order to get to the bedrooms you go through a little passageway you go through a little path that we call a hall and that hall is usually long and you have the doors to the different rooms on that hall or in that hall so that was that that's what we mean when we talk about the hall of an apartment if you want more information and more about apartments and houses take a look at one of our daily English this one is in lesson number 131 called sharing an apartment you can find that on our website at ESL p OD comm take a look at our select and english memberships if you get one of those you can get this lesson from los angeles california from beautiful Los Angeles California I keep it's beautiful here I'm Jeff McQuillan thanks for
