1.[Music] hello everyone welcome back to English on the go where we help you learn English I'm your host and I'm so glad to have you with us today let's get and get ready to improve our English together today we'll be about a very common activity online shopping we all do it but have you ever about whether online shopping is good or bad for you we'll explore both sides of the issue and help you think about your own shopping habits us today are two friends Lisa and Clen who are discussing the pros and cons of online shopping let's listen in on their conversation before we jump into the conversation think about these questions one do you prefer shopping online or in physical stores two what are some benefits and of online shopping three how has online shopping change the way we buy things hey Ben have you noticed how much online shopping has become a part of our Lives absolutely it's so convenient you can buy anything from clothes to groceries with just a click yeah it saves a lot of time you don't have to leave your house and everything gets delivered right to your door that's true but don't you think there are some downsides too I mean sometimes it's hard to know if what you're buying is really good quality you're right pictures online don't always match the actual product plus returning things can be such a hassle exactly and I've noticed that I tend to buy more when I shop online especially because it's so easy I sometimes end up buying things I don't really need oh me too I get tempted by all the sales and discounts and before I know it I've spent way more than I planned another thing is that online shopping isn't great for local businesses it's tough for small shops to compete with big online stores that's a good point I try to support local stores when I can but it's hard to resist the convenience of shopping online yeah but I guess online shopping isn't all bad it's great for people who live far from big cities or have busy schedules definitely and sometimes you can find unique items online that you wouldn't be able to get in stores at the end of the day I think it's all about balance online shopping is great when used wisely but it's important to think about what and why we're buying agreed being mindful of our spending and supporting local shops when possible is key let's take a moment to go over some of the vocabulary from the conversation one convenient it means something something that is easy and saves time for example shopping online is convenient because you don't need to go to the store two hassle it refers to
